Didactica Cursive Fonts
Didactica Cursive is the second stage of the Didactica super-family — a partially joined italic script mirroring Tom Gourdie’s philosophy of two closely related alphabets: one for print, one for cursive. Following the principles of modern italics, some lowercase letters join naturally while others remain disconnected. Both stages share proportions, structure, and rhythm, allowing the typeface to grow with the learner’s skill.
Like its companion Didactica, it offers customizable weights, slants, and features including Guidelines as well as Ductus, with directional arrows and stylistic sets that adjust arrow directions for left-handed learners. The upright angle of the letterforms also supports left-handed children, making the family more accessible across the classroom. Designed for publishers of early-learning materials, teachers, parents, and designers working in children’s media, Didactica Cursive serves everyone working across the literacy landscape.
